Nature, Parks & Outdoor Activities in El Nido

Good to Know

  • Island hopping tours operate year-round but best November-May (dry season). December-April sees peak tourist crowds and higher prices.
  • All island hopping tours depart around 8-9am from El Nido Beach and return 4-5pm. You will get wet walking into the sea at start—bring waterproof bags.
  • Tour A and C are most popular but get crowded. Tour B offers similar beauty with fewer tourists.
  • Sharp limestone rocks are constant hazard—wear sturdy shoes with good grip, and consider gloves for climbing/hiking.
  • Taraw Cliff hike is off-the-books activity technically not officially sanctioned, but runs daily weather-permitting. Guides available through local networks (e.g., Facebook 'The Couch El Nido'). Early morning pre-dawn start essential.
  • Bring plenty of water on all hikes—no shops near trails. Sun protection critical year-round. Avoid midday heat (10am-3pm) in summer.
  • An Eco-Tourism Development Fee (₱400) is mandatory and valid 10 days—pay once before any tourism activity.
  • Lagoon entrance fees are separate from tour prices; budget ₱200 per lagoon plus optional kayak rentals (₱150).
  • All tour operators are standardized—Tours A, B, C, D have same destinations regardless of booking company.
  • Deep water soloing climbing requires full gear and experience. Rentals available through specialty guides.
  • Diving best March-May for manta rays; book Sibaltan dive shops outside main El Nido for better value and less crowded sites.
  • Northern coastal trails (Nacpan-Calitang, Las Cabanas-Papaya) offer easier alternatives to intense cliff climbs.
  • Motorcycle/tricycle rentals enable independent exploration of waterfalls and beaches beyond town center.
  • Weather conditions critical—heavy rain in rainy season (June-October) makes trails muddy and dangerous; typhoon risk disrupts boat tours.
