Privacy, Cookies and Analytics
Last updated: October 7, 2026
This policy explains what personal data Nomadr stores, how cookies, Google Analytics and Google advertising features work, how affiliate links are tracked, and how to opt out.
What we collect
If you create an account we store your email, the details you enter (your name or handle, where you're based, bio, interests, home base region, an optional profile picture, and match preferences such as region, activities, lifestyle and monthly budget), your saved cities, your passport stamps and your trips. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. All of this is private to your account unless you switch on one of the public features below. Nomadr has no public profiles and no messaging between users.
When you create an account and have allowed analytics, we store which Nomadr ad or campaign brought you (the campaign tags in the link), your landing page and the site that referred you. This is kept with your account and deleted when you delete your account. If you have not allowed analytics, we store only that you signed up. You can choose to allow analytics when you create your account, and you can change that anytime in cookie settings.
Your lifestyle preferences, including LGBTQ+ Friendly, stay private to your account and are never sent to analytics or advertising tools.
Contact messages
If you use the contact form or email us, we store your email, your name if you give it, the topic and your message so we can reply. We never add you to a mailing list.
Location requests
If you use the "Request a location" form we store the location you asked for, your email address, and anything optional you add (your name, a note, and the search term if the form appeared after an empty search). We use this to decide which cities to research next and to email you if that location is added.
The "Email me occasionally about new locations and updates" box is opt-in only and unticked by default. Leaving it unticked does not affect your request. If you tick it we store that choice and the time you made it, and you can withdraw it at any time.
These records are never readable through the public site — only we can see them. To have your request and email deleted, contact us and we'll remove it.
Public features you can opt into
Only one thing is ever shown publicly, and only if you switch it on: the Travel Map Leaderboard (your display name, your rank, how many places you've stamped and your percentage). Turn it off at any time and it's removed from the site.
Advertising features
We use these Google Analytics Advertising Features: Google Signals, remarketing with Google Analytics, Google Ads conversion measurement, and demographics and interests reporting.
- Google Signals: if you're signed in to a Google account that allows ad personalization, Google can connect your visit to that account. This helps us understand visits across devices and lets us show Nomadr ads to people who visited before.
- Remarketing: we may show Nomadr ads on Google Search, YouTube and other websites to people who have visited Nomadr.
- Conversion measurement: when you arrive from a Nomadr ad, we measure whether you went on to sign up or click a partner link.
- Demographics and interests: Google tells us, in aggregate only, the rough age ranges and interests of our visitors. We never see this for any individual person.
How cookies work together: Nomadr and Google, as a third-party vendor, use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as Google advertising cookies) together to measure visits, measure the results of our ads, and show ads based on past visits to Nomadr. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
We never use visits to pages about LGBTQ+ life or women's health to decide who sees our ads.
How to opt out:
- Open Cookie Settings in the footer to turn off Advertising, Analytics, or both, on this browser.
- Manage or turn off personalized ads from Google at My Ad Center: https://myadcenter.google.com
- Install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Opt out of interest-based ads from participating companies at the NAI opt-out page: https://optout.networkadvertising.org
- We honor the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser sends it, we turn off analytics and advertising features automatically.
Partner links
Some outbound links to travel booking partners are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you book through them — at no extra cost to you. These links are labeled where they appear. Commissions never influence our rankings, ratings, or recommendations; our scores are computed from researched data only.
Why we use your data
- Your account, saved cities, passport and trips: to provide the service you signed up for.
- Analytics and advertising: in Europe, only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Cookie Settings. Elsewhere, our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site, which you can object to by turning them off.
- Contact messages and location requests: our legitimate interest in answering you and deciding which places to research next. Update emails about new locations: your consent (the opt-in box).
- The leaderboard: your consent, by switching it on.
- Consent records: to show we asked properly, which the law requires.
- Security and hosting logs: our legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. These providers help run Nomadr and process data only for that purpose:
- Supabase — database and sign-in
- Lovable — builds and hosts the site
- Cloudflare — domain and network security
- Resend — sends account and confirmation emails
- Google — sign-in with Google, Google Analytics and advertising features, as described above
Buy Me a Coffee handles donations under its own privacy policy. When you follow a partner link, that partner's own privacy policy applies from then on.
Some of these providers store or process data in the United States or elsewhere outside the EU. Where they do, they rely on safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses in their data processing terms.
How long we keep it
- Account data: until you delete your account, then removed within 30 days.
- Contact messages: no longer than 12 months.
- Location requests: no longer than 24 months. Consent to update emails lasts until you withdraw it.
- Cookie consent records: 24 months.
- Google Analytics data: up to 14 months.
- Hosting and security logs: short periods set by our providers.
Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time (this doesn't affect anything done before you withdrew). Email hello@getnomadr.com and we'll reply within one month. If you're in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Giving us data is optional, but you need an email address to create an account. Nomadr doesn't make automated decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects — city scores describe places, not people.
US state privacy rights
Showing ads based on your visits may count as "sharing" personal information under some US state laws. You can opt out by turning off Advertising in Cookie Settings, or by using Global Privacy Control.
Children
Nomadr isn't meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
For the people who run Nomadr. When this is on, visits from this browser are marked as internal so they are left out of our own usage reports.
Who runs Nomadr
Nomadr is run by Yacine Boraie, who decides how the data described here is used (the "controller" under data protection law). Contact: hello@getnomadr.com.
When you create an account, we send ourselves a notification with your name, email address, and approximate location (city and country, estimated from your internet connection). This location is not stored with your account.
