Good to know
Good to Know
- Panagsama Beach is open 24/7, and the best part is there are no entrance or parking fees at the public main access point. Some private resort passageways charge fees.
- The tide is one of the most critical factors in genuinely enjoying your time at Panagsama Beach. Low tide is perfect for sunbathing on a narrow stretch of sand but unsuitable for snorkeling; high tide is excellent for snorkeling but sunbathing won't be possible due to higher water levels.
- Reef shoes or water shoes essential at Panagsama due to rocky entry; wearing them prevents injury.
- You do not have to book a tour to snorkel for the sardines – bring or rent your snorkel gear and swim out from Panagsama Beach. Gear rental available for ~150-200 PHP on the beach.
- Most visitors to Moalboal experience both — mornings and afternoons in the water at Panagsama, then tricycle to White Beach for the sunset.
- Moalboal charges a P25 environmental fee per person which is collected at kiosks at either the Panagsama Beach or White Beach entrance. This environmental fee covers both beaches for the day — if you pay at Panagsama in the morning before going to White Beach in the afternoon, you do not pay the environmental fee again.
- Panagsama can get very crowded during peak season, especially mornings with tour groups; visit late afternoon for fewer people.
- Both beaches best visited December–May (dry season); June–November rainy season may limit water visibility and diving schedules.
- Currents at Panagsama can be unpredictable when venturing far from shore; follow local knowledge and observe flags.
- Most places offer cheap local beers for around 50–80 PHP (~1–1.50€) and simple but delicious Filipino food.
