• Vietnam has no single 911-style number — save 113 (police), 114 (fire), and 115 (ambulance) separately in your phone before you need them.
• Emergency operators typically speak Vietnamese only, with at best basic English in big cities like Da Nang — having a translation app or a Vietnamese-speaking contact on hand helps a lot.
• For serious medical emergencies, calling 115 gets you a public ambulance, but response quality can be inconsistent; many expats instead go directly (via taxi/Grab) to an international-standard private hospital such as Vinmec or Family Medical Practice for faster, English-speaking care.
• Da Nang has its own tourist-focused hotlines — 1022 for general tourist info/issues and a Tourist Rapid Response Team reachable at 0919 247 009 — which can be more useful than the national lines for non-life-threatening tourist problems.
• There isn't a dedicated official emergency/SOS app for Da Nang or Vietnam; VNeID (the government's digital ID app) is useful for residency/ID matters but isn't built for emergency dispatch.
• For serious trauma or major accidents, local guides consistently point to the public Da Nang Hospital as the most heavily equipped facility, while Vinmec Da Nang International Hospital and Hoan My are the go-to choices for English-language support and international-standard emergency care.
• Family Medical Practice and Family Hospital's international clinics are well suited for urgent (non-critical) issues and initial stabilization, but for major trauma expect an onward transfer to a larger hospital.
• Vietnam does not use a formal US-style Level I–IV trauma center ranking system, so no hospital in Da Nang carries an official 'trauma level' designation — capability described above is based on scale, equipment and reputation rather than a certified tier.
• The national emergency number 115 will dispatch an ambulance, but response times and English-language capability are generally better if you call a private hospital's own 24/7 emergency line directly.
• Public hospitals typically expect cash payment upfront, while the private international hospitals (Vinmec, Hoan My, Family Hospital, FMP) accept cards and often bill international insurance directly — always carry your passport and, if possible, proof of travel insurance.
