Surf exists within a day trip of Barcelona but it isn't a draw: rideable waves depend on which storm or wind is running, spread thinly across several spots rather than concentrated in one reliable break.

Barcelona has no single consistent surf spot — waves appear at Barceloneta and Bogatell inside the city, and along the nearby Maresme and Garraf coasts (Castelldefels, Sitges, Badalona, Montgat, Ocata), depending on which storm direction is running. A surf school has operated near Castelldefels and Sitges since 2003.
