• Most direct/express buses to Arugam Bay are overnight services, arriving very early (3–4 AM)
• Luxury overnight buses offer better comfort than standard day buses for this long journey
• Train travel offers scenic views of tea plantations and mountains but requires 2–3 additional hours for onward transport from Ella or Batticaloa
• Private pre-booked taxi/transfer is most comfortable option after international flight but significantly more expensive than public transport
• Expect cold air conditioning on buses and taxis; bring a layer despite tropical heat outside
